Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Open Tibia servers and TIBIASERVERS.

What is an Open Tibia Server (OTS)?

An Open Tibia Server (OTS) is a free, community-run game server based on the classic MMORPG Tibia. OTS software reimplements the Tibia protocol, allowing anyone to host their own game world with custom rules, maps, experience rates, and content. The OTS community has been active for over 15 years.

Is playing on an Open Tibia server safe?

Playing on established OTS servers is generally safe. Use a unique password for each server (never your real Tibia account credentials), download clients only from the server's official website, and stick to well-known servers with active communities. TIBIASERVERS shows verification scores to help you identify trusted servers.

What is the best Tibia private server?

The best server depends on your preferences. For classic nostalgia, 7.6 servers like the ones in our rankings are popular. For modern gameplay, 10.x or 12.x servers offer more features. Check our server list sorted by player count, uptime, and version to find your ideal match.

How do I connect to an OTS server?

Download a compatible Tibia client for the server's protocol version (usually provided on the server's website), create an account on their website, then enter the server's IP address and port in the client. Most servers use port 7171.

What is the difference between PVP and Non-PVP servers?

On PVP (Player vs Player) servers, players can attack each other with consequences like skull marks and experience loss on death. Non-PVP servers disable player combat entirely, letting you focus on hunting monsters, completing quests, and exploring without risk of being attacked.

What do experience rates mean (1x, 100x, etc.)?

Experience rates determine how fast you level up compared to official Tibia. A 1x server has the same progression as real Tibia. A 100x server means you gain experience 100 times faster. Low rates (1-10x) suit players who enjoy grinding, while high rates (100x+) are for fast-paced PvP action.

What Tibia version should I choose?

Version 7.6 is the classic era with manual rune crafting and simple PvP. Version 8.6 adds quality-of-life improvements while keeping the old-school feel. Version 10.x+ has modern features like action bars and mounts. Choose based on whether you prefer nostalgia or modern convenience.

How does TIBIASERVERS rank servers?

TIBIASERVERS aggregates real-time data from 3 independent server listing sources. Servers are ranked by current player count by default, but you can sort by peak players, uptime, experience rate, or version. Our reliability scores factor in uptime, source verification, and player base stability.

Can I play Open Tibia on mobile?

Some OTS servers support mobile play through browser-based clients or dedicated mobile apps. Look for servers with 'Mobile support' tags on their detail pages. The trend toward browser-based clients is growing, making OTS accessible on any device.

Why do some servers show different player counts?

TIBIASERVERS aggregates data from multiple sources and always shows the most recent count. Player numbers fluctuate throughout the day based on time zones and peak hours. The 'peak' stat shows the highest concurrent player count recorded.
